The Project
This single-family project aimed to create a living environment in nature, without imposing the heavy maintenance often associated with wooded lots. The clients wanted a functional and bright home, with three bedrooms suited to the life of a young family, while respecting a precise and realistic budget.
The choice of lot played a decisive role. The presence of a natural building plateau made it possible to limit earthwork and reduce long-term maintenance. When the environment dictates the design, the home becomes a natural extension of the lifestyle, and this logic guided the decisions related to site placement and exterior layouts.
To extend the use of outdoor spaces, the addition of a 3-season sunroom was integrated into the project, offering a versatile and comfortable solution to enjoy the environment for several months of the year, while remaining protected from the elements.
Our Vision for the Project
From the earliest decisions, the objective was to design a home in direct connection with its environment, without increasing maintenance or complicating daily use. The project had to strike the right balance between openness to the outdoors, functionality, and respect for the established budget.
The lot, with its natural plateau, influenced several choices, as did the importance placed on exterior design. The addition of a 3-season sunroom emerged as a coherent solution, making it possible to extend the relationship with the outdoors while maintaining comfort and versatility. This approach to the project resulted in a well-designed home, aligned with the family’s lifestyle and the characteristics of the site.
The choice of a natural building plateau made it possible to limit earthwork and simplify lot development, while providing an unobstructed view of the surrounding nature.
The 3-season sunroom was added as a living space in its own right, making it possible to enjoy the outdoors for a longer period, in a comfortable and protected setting.
The essential elements for this project
We wanted to live in nature, but without complicating our lives with a lot that was too demanding to maintain. What mattered to us was having a bright, functional home, well suited to our daily life with the children.
We also wanted to fully enjoy the outdoors, while remaining comfortable. The 3-season sunroom quickly became an obvious choice to extend our time outside, without being too exposed to the elements. The objective was clear: create a simple, pleasant, and sustainable living environment that respects our budget and our way of life.
