The Project
The project was based on the A Capella D model, whose configuration already met several of the family’s needs while providing a flexible enough foundation to be adapted. The objective was clear: to create a home capable of accommodating an active family life while maintaining well-defined and pleasant living spaces.
Several adjustments were made to optimize functionality. The ground-floor office was transformed into a second living room, creating a distinct area for family gatherings or quieter moments. At the entrance, the addition of French doors structured the hall while preserving natural light.
Upstairs, the floor plan was revised to include four full bedrooms, meeting the family’s current and future needs. The basement was also fully finished, featuring a large family room and an additional bedroom, offering valuable versatility and real long-term growth potential.
Our Vision for the Project
From the start, the vision was to design a home capable of adapting to the rhythm of an evolving family without making numerous compromises. Each space had to fulfill its function naturally, both today and in the years to come.
Particular attention was paid to how the spaces interact with one another. The presence of two living rooms creates complementary living areas, encouraging both gatherings and quieter moments. Circulation, lighting, and the relationship between rooms guided all decisions to provide a fluid, comfortable, and easy-to-live-in home on a daily basis.
The goal was to deliver a home with common areas large enough for entertaining and quieter zones to preserve the privacy of each occupant.
The transformation of the office into a second living room and the addition of French doors at the entrance allowed the spaces to be structured without compromising brightness. This flexibility gives the home the ability to adapt to changing family needs.
The fully finished basement completes the home with a large family room and a fifth bedroom. The 9.5-foot ceilings enhance the sense of space and offer valuable versatility for guests or future needs.
Priorities established by our clients
We needed a design that could evolve with our family. Entertaining often, having space for the children,
The possibility of having four bedrooms upstairs, a separate second living room, and a closed laundry room was essential for us.
Outside, the lot had to offer real long-term potential. The idea of eventually adding a pool, a detached garage, and a shed was part of our vision from the project planning stage.
